World’s smallest monkeys

Thumb Monkeys

In the forests of the Amazon basin, South America, there are the world’s smallest monkeys – Thumb Monkeys, the scientific name of them is Hapale jacchus or Callithrix jacchus, also known as Pygmy Marmoset in English, this monkey is only 10-12 cm tall and 80-100g in weight when it grows up to adult. The baby monkey is about the size of a broad bean, 13g in weight. This monkey has a warm personality and is friendly with human, so feeding them has become the hobby of native Indians.

I know it’s cute and you can’t wait to have one, but it’s expensive and sensitive to different temperature, the species is not endangered but threatened by more and more pet trade.
