Reading complex novels help you understand others better

Reading complex novels

A new study published by U.S. “Science” magazine has found that reading complex novels can better understand others. Psychologists in New York found that popular fictions had little effect on improving readers’ judgment of emotion, but reading complex novels could, because the character of  complex novels has more complex inner world and hidden personality, reading it would improve people’s “empathy”, which make people have a deeper understanding of the characters’ personality traits in practical life. Maybe you can read James Joyce’s Ulysses which is a representative of stream of consciousness novel.
