Emil Jannings, real name was Theodor Friedrich Emil Janenz, a famous German actor, born on July 23, 1884.

In 1929, by an excellent performance in the movie The Last Command, he won the first Oscar award for the “Best Actor”. After the Nazis came into power in Germany, Jannings became a fervent supporter of them and actively participated in the Nazi film’s publicity. After the war, Emil Jannings was disappointed, so he converted to Catholicism and emigrated to Austria. In 1950, he died of cancer.
